Wonderful Tonight
Poems and Lyrics selected by the client
Calligraphy by Mary Noble
32 pages
Approximately 250 x 170mm
1 copy only. Bound by Glenn Malkin 2012

This binding was a commission binding for a client who had a calligrapher produce a collection of poems and lyrics chosen by friends and members of the family, as a gift.
The binding needed to reflect the lyrics of the title song and was based on an Art Deco feel.

The design incorporated a full leather binding with air brushed  background based loosely on images of the New York skyline in the 1920s. The main figures and tree were leather onlays using puckered leather to create texture. The moon and silhouettes were back-pared onlays and there was blind tooling to the sky and other areas of the design.
Suede end papers and full leather doublures. Edges decorated wioth acrylics. Presented in a cloth covered drop-back box with suede linings, black tooling to the cover and full length spine label.
