'Tudor style' overlapping leather binding in black and green goat. Blind tooled title to the spine. Recessed area with blind tooling and paper onlays. Tooled detail in white and black foil. Hand sewn silk endbands. Book edges decorated with acrylics and foil tooling. The doublures are created from strips of distressed images adapted from Roger Fenton's original photographs from the Crimea. Suede endpapers. Presented in a bespoke drop-back box with leather and paper details.

The design of the cover incorporates the shape of the Black Sea where the conflict took place in the 1850's. The tooled lines represent the letters sent home by the troops, white or black depending on the news being relayed. The images which have been used were extracted from photographs taken by Roger Fenton, being the first ever extensive photographic record of an international conflict.
